This workshop provides a comprehensive review of the summative assessment and evaluation tasks. While the focus will be on end-of-year exams, we'll also look at how other summative tasks throughout the school year can be used for formative assessment. Participants will analyze real student work and explore how to apply rubrics effectively, with a focus on interpreting criteria that rely on teacher judgment. Through guided discussion, we’ll examine how to assess clarity, justification, and reasoning in student responses, as well as how to ensure consistency and fairness in scoring. In this workshop participants will learn how to code a simple physical computing setup on a Raspberry Pi using motors, lights, etc. and python programming language.  It will be an opportunity to have a hands-on experience with the equipment and practice a coding exercise which you could then adapt or use on your equipment back at your school.

This workshop will be aimed at beginners and teachers who may be interested in this topic but may not know how to get started or how to incorporate physical computing using a Raspberry Pi computer.

In this workshop participants will learn how to code a simple physical computing setup on a Raspberry Pi using motors, lights, etc. and python programming language.  It will be an opportunity to have a hands-on experience with the equipment and practice a coding exercise which you could then adapt or use on your equipment back at your school.

This workshop will be aimed at beginners and teachers who may be interested in this topic but may not know how to get started or how to incorporate physical computing using a Raspberry Pi computer.

Based on the Historical Thinking in Practice (HTIP) PD series, this introductory session provides an overview of the 6 Historical Thinking concepts and explores practical strategies for increasing student engagement in social studies through inquiry-based learning. Participants will examine how incorporating historical thinking can foster critical thinking, make history more meaningful, and increase student engagement. They will also hear from an HTIP teacher participant about how historical thinking-based activities can be effectively integrated into the everyday classroom. Educators will leave with classroom-ready ideas and adaptable strategies to support engaging, student-centered learning. While this workshop is aimed primarily at high school teachers, all educators are welcome.

In this workshop, participants will explore how to design meaningful choice boards that support diverse learners through Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and effective differentiated instruction.

In this workshop participants will learn how to code a simple physical computing setup on a Raspberry Pi using motors, lights, etc. and python programming language.  It will be an opportunity to have a hands-on experience with the equipment and practice a coding exercise which you could then adapt or use on your equipment back at your school.

This workshop will be aimed at beginners and teachers who may be interested in this topic but may not know how to get started or how to incorporate physical computing using a Raspberry Pi computer.

Based on the Historical Thinking in Practice (HTIP) PD series, this introductory session provides an overview of the 6 Historical Thinking concepts and explores practical strategies for increasing student engagement in social studies through inquiry-based learning. Participants will examine how incorporating historical thinking can foster critical thinking, make history more meaningful, and increase student engagement. They will also hear from an HTIP teacher participant about how historical thinking-based activities can be effectively integrated into the everyday classroom. They will also hear from an HTIP teacher participant about how historical thinking-based activities can be effectively integrated into the everyday classroom. Based on the Historical Thinking in Practice (HTIP) PD series, this introductory session provides an overview of the 6 Historical Thinking concepts and explores practical strategies for increasing student engagement in social studies through inquiry-based learning. Participants will examine how incorporating historical thinking can foster critical thinking, make history more meaningful, and increase student engagement. They will also hear from an HTIP teacher participant about how historical thinking-based activities can be effectively integrated into the everyday classroom. Educators will leave with classroom-ready ideas and adaptable strategies to support engaging, student-centered learning. While this workshop is aimed primarily at high school teachers, all educators are welcome.

These whole-class tasks feature shared goals or constraints that encourage collaboration while preventing copying, creating a space for meaningful mathematical discussion and problem-solving.
