This workshop provides a comprehensive review of the summative assessment and evaluation tasks. While the focus will be on end-of-year exams, we'll also look at how other summative tasks throughout the school year can be used for formative assessment. Participants will analyze real student work and explore how to apply rubrics effectively, with a focus on interpreting criteria that rely on teacher judgment. Through guided discussion, we’ll examine how to assess clarity, justification, and reasoning in student responses, as well as how to ensure consistency and fairness in scoring. This session provides space to reflect on how teacher judgment supports professional evaluation, strengthens feedback practices, and helps make sense of complex student thinking.

We’ll look at how rich tasks can be used in everyday instruction, as well as how tasks that develop the C1 competency can help students prepare for summative C2 assessments. Participants will also have time to work directly with selected examples and consider how they could be adapted for their own classrooms. We’ll also explore practical strategies for creating rich tasks using existing materials, helping reduce prep time without compromising quality. This workshop introduces a new style of situational problem designed to get students up, thinking, and engaging with each other’s work. These whole-class tasks feature shared goals or constraints that encourage collaboration while preventing copying, creating a space for meaningful mathematical discussion and problem-solving. Students typically work bell to bell with high levels of focus and participation. In this session, we’ll explore the tasks already available, preview ones currently in development, and offer frameworks for designing your own. Participants will also have the opportunity to experience one of these problems firsthand, thereby gaining a better understanding of how they unfold in real time.
