How can we better support students who struggle to grasp foundational math concepts in the general education classroom? This workshop focuses on strengthening Tier 1 math instruction by making abstract concepts concrete. With a focus on Recommendations 5 and 6 from the What Works Clearing House Practice Guide 26 (2021), participants will learn practical, evidence-based strategies for explicitly teaching students how to solve word problems and build fluency in mathematics.
