Engaging students using physical computing and python programming

In this workshop participants will learn how to code a simple physical computing setup on a Raspberry Pi using motors, lights, etc. and python programming language. It will be an opportunity to have a hands-on experience with the equipment and practice a coding exercise which you could then adapt or use on your equipment back at your school.

This workshop will be aimed at beginners and teachers who may be interested in this topic but may not know how to get started or how to incorporate physical computing using a Raspberry Pi computer.

This interactive session invites adult education teachers to explore a practical framework for visualizing and monitoring student progress in a self-paced, modular context. Participants will engage in collaborative reflection and hands-on activities to identify key indicators of student readiness, integrate qualitative and quantitative data, and experiment with tools that support informed decision-making. The session focuses on developing simple, effective tracking systems that help reduce the cognitive load of monitoring each student’s progress
