How can we better support students who struggle to grasp foundational math concepts in the general education classroom? This workshop focuses on strengthening Tier 1 math instruction by making abstract concepts concrete. With a focus on Recommendation 3 from the What Works Clearing House Practice Guide 26 (2021), participants will learn practical, evidence-based strategies for explicitly teaching students how to use manipulatives and visual models to build deep mathematical understanding.
